For indoor boilers, as long as the boilers are not completely deactivated, the problems of freezing pipelines and valves will generally not occur. For open or semi-open boilers, if the local minimum temperature is below 0 °C, consider the winter frost protection.
Since the deactivated boiler itself no longer generates heat and the water in the pipeline is at rest, the pipeline and valve are prone to freezing when the temperature is below 0 °C. The most easily frozen part is the section of the pipeline downstream of the water-cooled wall to the pipeline before the primary valve and the pipeline and pressure gauge tube before the header to the draining primary valve. Because these pipes are thin, the water in the pipe is small, the heat capacity is small, and when the temperature is lower than 0 °C, the ice is first formed.
In order to prevent the above-mentioned pipelines and valves from freezing in the winter, all the draining water valves should be opened, the water in the boiler water and the instrument pipelines should be completely discharged, and the presence of dead angles and water should be prevented. Because the condensed water in the vertical superheater tube can not be discharged, the boiler that is deactivated for a long time in winter should adopt special anti-freezing measures to prevent the superheater tube from freezing and cracking.
